The venue sets the scene for what is an evening of inspiration. The history of the entire building, the wonderful imagery of great BAFTA winners past and present and don’t forget the life size original BAFTA sculpture, a favourite for all selfie lovers.

More About Awards Night

#back2blackawards celebrates members of the community who have made a significant contribution to the lives of others. Hosted at the prestigious BAFTA London Headquarters it is a wonderful affair and an opportunity to support the community and to inspire our young people.  The evening is a celebration of UK Black History filled with Live entertainment, inspirational key note speakers and of course the awards ceremony.

Each year we ensure that our speakers are topical, relevant and inspirational; sometimes left field but always on point. UK Black History is important and our speakers are there to inspire all of us to make our own positive contribution to UK History black or otherwise.

A great selection of the UKs finest performers, musicians, actors and presenters. Picked personally for your entertainment. Artists filled with passion, talent and a sprinkling of celebrity. The beautiful thing is that they are themselves making UK Black History on a global scale and they bring their hearts to the stage and you feel it.

BAFTA headquarters is a wonderful venue. You have the VIP tables with full hospitality, bar and screens. There’s the reception room hosted by our very special DJs. The networking and media area and the fabulous historic HRH Princess Anne Theatre – the auditorium where the main stage is located.

Where better to watch a short film than in the home of UK Film & Television. The BAFTA HRH Princess Anne Theatre is the perfect auditorium to watch our thought provoking output screened on the night.

Case Study One | 2014 Award Recipient Nurse Neomi Bennett noticed that patients were not wearing anti embolism stockings, as they were notoriously tight and difficult to put on. There are currently 25,000 people dying of DVT each year in the UK. Neomi became very focused on the problems associated with stocking application and grew more interested in finding a solution. She invented and designed The Neo-slip. Since its inception Neo-Slip has received critical acclaim in the UK, the product has won 14 awards for its simplistic design, ingenuity and efficiency and because it helps to save lives.

Case Study Two | 2015 Award Recipient Warren Ryan uses his challenging past to inspire others to break negative cycles. He was brought into this world by a 17-year-old drug addict. By the age of eight he was acting as the father, looking after three younger siblings, who were eventually separated and split into different foster homes. He was constantly bullied for his disheveled appearance and his situation at home. All this resulted in a lot of anger and pain yet, despite all this, even by the age of 13, he knew exactly what he wanted to be… someone important who would use his internal struggle to do something good. Warren Ryan is now a renowned MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER and also founding director of NEED4SUCCESS a company that empowers people helping to redefine their values.
